Electricians install, repair, operate, and maintain electrical equipment. Often, they work with electrical engineers who design the systems. In the water industry, electricians may install, operate, and maintain:
• the large-scale electrical system of a hydroelectric plant; • the electrical wiring within a building; • high-voltage systems for the machine and repair shops, pumping stations, and generators; • high-quality electrical supplies for computers and laboratory equipment. Education: High school diploma and apprenticeship; two-year degree is a plus.
